In the 1870s, the railroad passed through Perm. By 1878, the construction of the railway station was completed, later it was called “Perm I”.

On June 12, 1887, Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich and his son Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich, who had arrived in Perm the day before, left the station by train to inspect the Perm Cannon Factory in Motovilikha. On the same day, the distinguished guests returned, attended the celebrations of the consecration of the new building of the Marian Grammar School for Girls, and late in the evening left for Yekaterinburg to participate in the Siberian-Ural Scientific and Industrial Exhibition as Grand Duke Mikhail Nikolayevich was its Honorary President.

For the first time, Grand Duchess Elizaveta Feodorovna, widow of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich, abbess of the Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy, arrived at the Perm I Railway Station on July 13, 1914, on her second day in Perm. The railway station was adorned with greenery and flags, there were a lot of people. To the thunderous “hurrah”, the train with Elizaveta Feodorovna and the persons accompanying her left the station.

The Grand Duchess went on a pilgrimage to the White Mountain Monastery of St. Nicholas. Two days later, on July 15, the train with the Grand Duchess returned to Perm. On the same day, late in the evening, Elizaveta Feodorovna left the Perm I Railway Station by train on a pilgrimage to the holy places of Verkhoturye, from where she returned on the morning of July 19. Next evening, July 20, because of the outbreak of the First World War she cut her pilgrimage trip across the Urals and left by train for Moscow to prepare her Martha and Mary Convent of Mercy for receiving wounded soldiers.
